Countdown to trading, part 3 – Prussian Pickles and relative impact rating

On Echo, we measure impact relatively. Rather than looking for an absolute number for impact (what would that be?), on Echo we say things like “Company A does twice as good as company B”. Prussian Pickles is the fictional company we use as a baseline for these comparisons.

Every company listed on Echo has the exact same number of immies. If the price for one company’s immies is twice the price of another, this means that it has twice the impact.

Like this, you can compare the impact of all kinds of companies: with one glance only.

Relative pricing and Onboardings

The first time you will get to know relative pricing is when you participate in your first Onboarding. For when we determine the opening price of a new company’s immies, we will ask you to compare the newbie to a company already rated.

In the Onboarding, the company you will use as a basis will always be Prussian Pickles. On immy of Prussian Pickles costs 1 Ǝ. This never changes.

Prussian Pickles does not really exist. It is a fictional company we made up so that you have a solid and unchanging basis for comparison. We will give you all kinds of information about Prussian Pickles in the Onboarding. Curious? In this video you can learn more about Prussian Pickles:
